GCA Environment Committee: Waste to Energy

Description

The GCA Environment Committee invites you to attend the presentation from the City & County of Honolulu, Department of Environmental Services - Refuse Division at their Committee meeting on August 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. via zoom. H-POWER is Hawaii’s only Waste-to-Energy facility. Since it began operating in 1990, it has diverted more than 20 million tons of trash from landfills. H-POWER has helped the City and County of Honolulu achieve an 82% landfill diversion rate, comparable to the most progressive cities in the United States. 

This presentation will highlight H-POWER’s role in integrated solid waste management, the processes and technologies used, the environmental, technical and financial benefits and its partnerships with the community.
